Information on speed penalties is located here: http://tourofportugal.co.uk/speed-control-zone-and-penalties/
In addition to speed zone penalties, we are introducing an IMPERATIVE STOP marked on the roadbook for road junctions, if a rider fails to show a zero speed on the GPS there will be a 5 minute time penalty for each infringement. A rider will need to be stationary for 3 secs in order for the GPS to register.
Rally Class will have no penalties for being “off course” as incorrect navigation will add to their time in the stages. Any time advantage gained by course cutting will carry a 30 minute penalty.
In the Adventure Class there are no timed sections so results will be determined as to the total length of the GPS track compared to the indicated course length on the roadbook. The competitor being closed to the roadbook km’s over 3 days will be the winner. Adventure class riders will also have to adhere to speed zones and IMPERATIVE STOP instructions and the same penalties will apply.
Any rider that phones into Rally HQ for route assistance will have a 10 minute time penalty per call.
Any rider assisting another rider in an emergency will have their time given back to them and will have no penalties.
